Unlocking the Body’s Innate Potential for Self Healing

No doctor can diagnose conditions that do not fit their training or understanding regarding how the human body adapts to stress and/or trauma, be it physical, emotional or chemical. Something that is essential if the doctor is to effectively interact, diagnose and treat the underlying causation, without which there can be no self-healing. Clearly the majority of patients experiencing pain or other chronic conditions are not suffering from a lack of prescription drugs. Instead what is needed is a logical understanding of the mechanisms causing those symptoms, keeping in mind they are usually layered and rarely obvious, hence the need for ongoing medication that hide symptoms rather than address the underlying problem.

This means we will need to gain some understanding of how the body gets out of balance and how this affects nerves, hormones, blood flow, organ function, gait and postural symmetry. We will also need to understand the body’s priorities, bearing in mind that survival remains the most dominant. As discussed in part 6, the human body does not have numerous reflex survival responses to choose from, because if it did, by the time it chose one it could be all over. These can be ‘lightning’ quick reactions, innate powerful responses which are pre-programmed even before we are born, and can also remain continually active in varying degrees throughout life. Even in the womb our bodies are formed and develop in highly organised layers; patterns that remain throughout life, which means throughout life our bodies continue to function, and therefore will also dysfunction, in layered patterns.

Humans are designed to be a totally integrated biological and energetic entity, which means that everything affects everything else in one way or another, and nothing happens in or to the body without total body awareness, especially with regard to toxicity, stress or threatening experiences. This awareness is communicated through the nervous system so that the body can accommodate any particular stressful or threatening incident and respond appropriately in order to survive. Therefore any disruption of the natural balance within these previously synchronised processes will cause a change in the electromagnetic field in various parts of the body.

The body is functionally organised into four primal survival systems and these are digestion, fight or flight, reproduction and the immune system. All physiological, neurological, vegetative and cognitive activities must function within or through these survival systems in an organised and integrated manner to be healthy. Everything we need for survival, with the exception of food, air and water, must be found within the body itself, i.e. self contained resources that enable self-healing, self-regulating, and self-perpetuating. Therefore the body’s four primary neural pathways must be re-integrated within themselves and synchronised with each other, because healing must always come from within, and without self-healing, no form of treatment can claim to be effective. These four primary systems are basic to survival, and are reflexogenic in nature, that is, automatic, needing no cognitive activity or training to function.

At the cellular level our mind reacts to stress by signalling to the body’s trillions of cells informing them ‘the environment is not supportive’ to health and growth. In other words, stress related tension will cause our internal environment to become toxic, so to speak, thus causing every cell in our body to react to a ‘hostile' environment. The fact that the body’s survival systems are neurologically coordinated means that when one is ‘turned on’ others are ‘turned off’ and so problems arise when there is a partial ‘turn on’ of one system and a partial ‘turn off’ of other systems. For example, in relation to the endocrine, i.e. hormonal balance, it is adrenals that tension the body and keep it in a state of alertness, while the thyroid is primarily concerned with rest and repair, digestion and bowel function. And why no-one would stop for a bowel movement if they were running for their life.

Neural Integration is effective because it specifically addresses these reflex systems using methods such as acupressure points, muscle spindles (that change muscle tension), magnetic energy patterns, re-alignment of the jaw, cranium, pelvic blocks that realign the pelvis and spine and nutritional/supplement advice. The methods used are meticulous and sequential for each system, designed to achieve re-integrated neural function, link by link and it does this by identifying specific areas in or on the body that relate to these primary neural circuits.

Neural circuits affect posture, gait, body symmetry, balance and movement, glandular problems, immunity, digestion, energy and cognitive functions. This is why dramatic changes can occur as the brain begins to release old ‘tension patterns’ and as a result complicated cases become more simplified. Neural Integration practitioners test specific ‘organ-related’ muscles because these quickly reveal any underlying related neurological deficiency. This is a highly effective method for accessing the body’s own knowledge of itself, due to the fact that any functional or structural deficit anywhere in the body, will always change the electromagnetic energy in that part or function.

This change is registered in the test muscle and the muscle momentarily weakens on stress. For example each muscle tested will relate to a specific organ or system, such as the liver, and its relationship with the endocrine system, but the point to grasp is that disruption within any program affects the function of the entire neural computer system which if damaged or compromised can prevent recovery.

Specific tests are employed that enable the practitioner to locate and identify specific health problems relating to imbalances within the body’s autonomic nervous system and then to specifically re-program the body’s autonomic survival, fight or flight responses, thereby restoring balance accurately and quickly. However if left untreated, the body’s reactive reflex patterns can and do adversely affect spinal curvatures, body alignment, movement, coordination, balance, posture, jaw tension and alignment, the adrenal stress responses, the digestive system, the immune system, the endocrine, (hormonal system), learning and language functions.

Think of the human brain functioning like a computer i.e. processing trillions of messages to and from the rest of the body each and every second. With each part of the brain and body having specific pathways for the related function, and like a computer the quality of information coming into the brain also determines the quality of information coming out. Messages are transmitted through nerve channels from the brain to the organs and are retransmitted from organs back to the brain. This allows the brain to regulate and control all the systems to produce a healthy body.

Essentially the human body consists of an accumulation of specialised cells that work together in harmony and are all joined up via an electro-chemically charged membrane fascial network that surrounds every cell, muscle, organ, blood vessel, tissue, and nerve in the body. To be healthy, humans are meant to exist in highly organised, integrated patterns that provide and maintain the body's functional working blueprint, but when they become unable to adapt to ongoing physical, chemical, emotional or diet stress factors this will begin to pull the body out of shape and explains why postural adaption is automatic and ongoing. For example, physical injury can occur at a very early age such as birth injuries (forceps delivery) falls, knocks and bumps, and throughout life the body adapts and compensates for these injuries, but as one grows older and the body is continually subjected to stress it often fails to adapt which can lead to ongoing symptoms.

Let’s start with the body’s reactive tension membrane system, known as The Fascial Defence System, which is best understood as a single, laminated sheet of connective tissue which runs without interruption from the top of the head to the tips of the toes. The fascia contains what might be called “pockets” that contain organs, all muscles and bones etc. The fascial system is made up of both superficial and deeper layers that also vitally connect to the membranes that surround and position the brain and spinal cord, discussed further on. Essentially the human body consists of an accumulation of specialised cells that work together in harmony and are all joined up via an electro-chemically charged membrane network that surrounds every cell, muscle, organ, blood vessel, tissue, and nerve in the body. A global system of stress reactive tension membranes, known as The Fascial Defence System. To be healthy humans are meant to exist in highly organised, integrated patterns that provide and maintain the body's functional working blueprint – and this is what the Fascial Tension System provides.

The fascial system is a complex web-like structure that runs throughout the body, allowing the body to function and move freely as one three-dimensional object, but when it becomes tight and loses mobility it causes a common condition known as fibromyalgia. It is the fascial system that determines body tension and why muscles simply act as levers and pulleys and do not think for themselves, but come under the control of  global stress reactive tension membranes. Tension membranes that come equipped with a vast amount of sensory receptors and responsible for smooth co-ordination of movements and communication throughout the body, and keeping the body in alignment. This is demonstrated by the fact that the fascial system can often reflect a historical record of the patient’s entire life experience.

To quote from the Textbook of Functional Medicine: “Establishing healthy and balanced web-like inter-connections is key to re-establishing healthy patterns of function.” Very logical when one considers how the body’s tension membranes are made up of multiple layers that when properly aligned allow health and vitality to naturally flow.  It is the fascial system that holds the body and all of its parts together and tightens around the joints to stabilise and strengthen their function. In other words, when the body's (dominant) tension membranes are relaxed and well balanced they keep our muscles and skeletal system in proper alignment i.e. good spinal curvatures and well aligned shoulders, hips and knees etc.

As mentioned, the fascial system is a three-dimensional network of connective tissues that surrounds and interpenetrates the body's organs, muscles, bones and nerves and is made up of many layers. It is the body's tension membranes that provide vital channels for nerve pathways, which when aligned enhance nerve communications between the brain and the rest of the body, thereby promoting health and self healing. For example an aligned membrane system also encourages smooth running, i.e. well aligned blood vessels allow free flowing blood and good circulation that naturally reduce heart strain, simply because the heart does not have to work as hard pumping the blood around a tense and distorted body. In addition to aiding nerve and blood flow, a well aligned membrane system also acts as channels for lymph vessels thereby aiding immune function in which lymph plays an important role. Lymph also removes bacteria, transports fat from the small intestine, and supplies mature lymphocytes to the blood. In other words parts of the body can become, swamps, i.e. clogging up lymph and blood, instead of promoting regenerative clear healthy running lymph and blood flow, and layers of healthy fascia designed to glide past each other.

Because all life is motion, any loss of movement can cause the fascial tension related membranes to thicken and stiffen up. Fascial tension that can also inhibit lymphatic system function and this is important not least because lymph flow plays an active and integral part in all wound healing processes. In other words, a lymphatic system that should normally clear away toxins and waste and keep the body fluids in balance, but instead tension causes fluid to build in tissues resulting in swelling, known as lymphedema. This can have a negative effect on the health of the tissues in this area and often have a knock-on effect throughout the body. Other lymphatic system problems include chronic infections and cancer. Some people think inflammation is a disease, but it's not, rather it is the body's natural immune response at work. This is because dead and worn out cells are being constantly replaced, thus the body is constantly rebuilding itself. Most DNA damage gets repaired straight away, but increased tension can cause the body’s cells to become clogged, damaged and degraded thereby resulting in mutated DNA and cancer as the genetic errors can build up over time.

Any trauma whether physical, chemical or emotional has the potential to disrupt the neural programmes within these reflex systems, which will then in turn send inappropriate signals to the central nervous system. Therefore regardless of whether the health problem is blood pressure, asthma, bowel issues, low back pain, knee pain, migraines, developmental delay or learning difficulties, until the related specific stress patterns are corrected, the status quo, although symptoms may ebb and flow, will remain ongoing within the brain/ body loop so to speak. It is the existence of stress patterns that is the primary reason cranio-sacral therapy can be very effective, this is because once the individual stress patterns have been identified, the related neural/reflex circuitry can then be addressed specifically and on purpose, and why patients generally need less treatments than many other therapies.

Diagnosis and treatments relate to the integrity of the nervous system and the body it controls. The methods used are essentially a combination of well established, highly effective safe, non-invasive protocols designed to reduce cranial and spinal tension, address extremity realignment, gait reflexes, cranial injury instability, auto-immune related health problems, i.e. migraines, bowel issues, fatigue, spinal problems, asthma and emotional clearing etc.

Neural Integration, as the name suggests, addresses the integrity of the nervous system and the body it controls. It is the dominant nervous system that enables us to survive and function in any situation, to exist in hostile environments and to adapt accordingly. Examination protocols are designed to target each Primary Neural Network sequentially, and to identify any short circuiting within these neural programmes. The aim being to “re-integrate” the related pathways so as to normalise sensory input to the brain. Simply put it is the Central Nervous System at the body’s core that controls everything else, therefore the basic human reaction to all forms of stress is to protect the brain and spinal cord at all costs. This explains why head, spinal and low back tension is so common and why we need to gain some understanding of the mechanisms involved.

Not least because as the body distorts around this primary system, this causes shoulders, hips and knees etc, to lose their natural position and because structure always relates to function stiffness and painful movement will often be the result. Which if left untreated will lead to poor posture, circulation problems, chronic spinal column compression (disc bulging), low back, neck, arm and leg pains etc, joint problems, endocrine, intestinal, digestive and reproductive problems that become chronic over time as the body's automatic stress-related tension responses become imprinted or 'hardwired' into the body’s functional anatomy that pull and hold the body out of shape.

Powerful and dominant survival reflexes that also cause jaw tension, upper neck and cranial misalignments and distortions that can pull the head out of alignment, i.e. the head is thrust forward or held sideways which also affects the position of the shoulders; a continuous adaptation that can lead to chronic irritation of the nerves supplying organs and muscles etc.

What follows is a very brief description of how the body distorts to protect the brain and spinal cord, not least because it is the nervous system that enables us to survive and function in any situation, i.e. to optimally function in hostile environments and how the human frame adapts its postural patterns accordingly. Any increased tension around the brain, spine and pelvis not only affect posture, but also gait, body symmetry, balance and movement, glandular problems, immunity, digestion, energy and cognitive functions, and why this system dominates with regard to survival and adaptation to stress.

Why, soon after receiving vaccination do the more vulnerable infants undergo febrile seizures or fits? Seizures and fits are capable of causing uncontrollable limb shaking or becoming completely rigid, all of which demonstrate the body’s innate powerful survival mechanisms in action, after which they lay exhausted or fall asleep. Alarming reactions that begin to make sense when viewed from a survival perspective, i.e. a powerful reactive survival muscular driven system, designed to protect the brain and spinal cord, the brain’s super-highway to the rest of the body and is therefore protected by bones in the cranium, spine and pelvis.

Because the brain and spinal cord control everything else they must be protected above all other functions, but often at a cost. As mentioned, the human body does not have numerous reflex survival responses to choose from, but one global, dominant, tension-driven mechanism designed to protect bodily functions essential to life. That’s why the body’s innate powerful responses are pre-programmed even before we are born. These are instantaneous responses designed to compress and shorten the spinal column thus making it more solid and less vulnerable. The problem being that these innate protective mechanisms can to a lesser degree remain active throughout life and why symptoms are usually tension related. In February 2017 the BBC released a documentary film about a drug trial that went wrong called the 'Elephant Man’, labelled so because of the initial gross disfigurement the drug experiment caused in all who took part in the vaccine trial.

The point to grasp is that everyone taking the drug displayed the same reactive sequence of survival-related reactions. It was reported that immediately following the injections, reactive fevers began in all participants, followed by crippling headaches, after which their bodies then began to arch, became rigid, as well as performing convulsing and contorting involuntary twisting and rolling movements; more or less the identical sequence of reactions known to occur in vulnerable infants following vaccination. However in all cases the primary factor is the intensity of the response - not the mechanism, which always remains the same, a dominant tension-related system designed to protect the brain, brainstem and spinal cord which is also stress-related and as mentioned, remains active throughout life.

For the sake of simplicity, we will limit this discussion to just one more vital inner layer, a membranous tube designed to support and protect the brain and spinal cord known as the Dura Mater, and translates as ‘tough mother’ due to its protective role. A tough membranous tube that encases the brain and spinal cord that has powerful attachments that act as anchors applying leverage inside the cranium, (head tension) as well as attaching to the upper spinal column and pelvis that tightens to protect, and why low back problems are so common. A protective wrapping and strong scaffolding that hold the brain and spinal cord in place to allow optimal functioning, i.e. ensures correct intra cranial pressure and flow of cerebrospinal fluid essential to keep the nervous system healthy by providing nutrients and removing waste products. In other words, both the inner and outer tension membranes can have far-reaching effects on the health, cell regeneration, vitality and wellbeing.

The most common symptoms caused by dural tension include: headaches, neck pain, arm pains that increase by bending the head forward, shoulder pains, back pain, sciatica-like pains, bilateral leg pain and fatigue, menstrual pain, spinal stiffness upon awakening, and other chronic problems that have neither a diagnosis nor a known pathology (general malaise, chronic fatigue, never feeling well) and pains attributed to “fibromyalgia.” And why after correcting dural tension, the body can immediately regain the faculty to function properly and many ailments automatically disappear. However because each person is different, everyone will respond depending on the severity and chronicity of their health problems.

For the sake of this study, it should also be noted that the skull bones fit together like tight jigsaw puzzle pieces that when even slightly pulled out of alignment can alter jaw position and function, and why the relationship between the cranium and sacrum is crucial, not least because the two ends create a pumping action that circulates the cerebrospinal fluid. It is the sacral movement that pumps the cerebro-spinal fluid up from the base of the spine, through the spinal canal towards the brain, while the movement of the occiput at the base of the skull and brainstem pumps it back towards the sacrum. When people wake up with recurring symptoms it is usually because instead of flowing freely around the brain and spinal cord while sleeping, any distortion with the dural tube will impair this flow and bring about familiar symptoms such as migraines or an acute low back on waking. Therefore low back problems are best understood when viewed as the body’s way of preventing further damage, a type of safety valve if you will.

The next thing we need to comprehend is that in addition to the dural membranes’ attachments inside the skull and pelvis, they also firmly attach to the vertebrae in the upper neck. This is vital because it is upper neck bones that protect and enclose the brainstem, a vital part of the nervous system that serves as a communication highway between the brain and the rest of the body. It is the brainstem that controls involuntary actions, such as breathing, heart rate, blood pressure, balance, eye movements, facial movements and sensations, swallowing, and taste.

The brainstem also controls autonomic functions, such as those related to the bowel and bladder. It also regulates sleep, wakefulness and feeling more alert, and more. Vital functions that can be adversely affected by misalignment in the upper cervical spine and is also a major cause of altered head positioning. For example it is the upper cervical vertebrae, ligaments and muscles that play a key role in the so-called “righting reflex” which strives to keep the eyes level to the horizon and the centre of gravity between the feet. And why upper neck bone adaptive distortion is also responsible for a good deal of postural adaptation, such a ‘short leg’ on one side discussed below.

A tilted pelvis will not only increase spinal curvatures but also pull the head and neck out of alignment thereby causing a chain reaction throughout the entire musculoskeletal system. The sacrum is the keystone bone of the pelvis, and the pelvis is the foundation of your spine, not least because it is the pelvis that supports the weight of everything above it and transmits the weight to your legs. Any ongoing imbalance can affect the body’s equilibrium, potentially impacting major joints, including the lower back, neck, shoulders, and even the jaw and cranial system. When spinal joint shock absorption becomes compromised, the nerves exiting the spine or the spinal cord become more susceptible to irritation from compression. This can result in lower back pain, leg pain (sciatica), or arm pains etc. In fact any ongoing imbalance that affects the body’s equilibrium, potentially impacting major joints, including the lower back, neck, shoulders, and even the jaw and cranial system.

Think of the spinal column being a piece of rope twisted in the middle, this can only occur through a twisting tension at both ends. Likewise it is dural tension from inside the cranium and pelvis which causes the spinal column to compress and shorten, and why addressing both is vital to relieve pressure on spinal nerves and discs and restore spinal mobility. The discs that sit between each vertebra act as shock absorbers as well as creating space between each bone for nerves to exit; nerves that go to the arms, organs, muscles and legs, to name just a few.  It is when the body gets pulled out of balance, that the spinal column compresses, thus the discs can become squeezed and bulge which increases tension around the sciatic, and all other spinal nerves. Jaw tension and headaches are often related to temporal bone impaired motion and misalignment and why cranial corrections can have dramatic changes as the brain begins to release old ‘tension patterns’ and as a result complicated cases become more simplified.

How does one leg become shortened? A functional short leg is a fairly common condition and typically occurs due to spinal adaptation and muscle imbalances and has many consequences. Low back problems are best understood as the body’s automatic safety mechanism designed to stop us doing more damage, and why it is import to understand how a tilted sacrum will not only distort the spinal column, it can also lead to cranial and jaw tension.

Think of the dural-meningeal system as a protective wrapping and strong scaffolding that keeps your nervous system in place. As the dural tube twists, because it is attached to the sacral bone designed to support the body's weight, when the sacrum gets pulled out of alignment, this affects spinal column tension and curvature as it shortens. In other words, increased tension at the dural tube’s attachment is inside the sacrum, causes it to tilt down and forward on one side and in doing causes the pelvic bone on the same side to become separated and hyper-mobile. (This is why if torn or chronic, specially designed pelvic belts are sometimes required)

This in turn causes the ligaments holding the hip bone in place to fail resulting in partial hip displacement, and also places additional pressure on the knees and ankles as they too become misaligned. Furthermore a dropped pelvis also predisposes a dropped arch often requiring foot supports to relieve symptoms. Any adaptive sacral tilt can lead to chronic low back, spinal and balance issues, neck and shoulder problems, as a result of incorrect weight distribution. (See diagram below)

All healing takes time as the tissues need time to repair and as such it is your responsibility to eat correctly, rest, minimise stress and follow any dietary or other advice. The initial examination and treatment takes one hour and then two weeks resting and recovery. Follow-up treatments take approx 45 mins, however many patients choose to continue on a maintenance basis, and again the need and frequency depends on degree of damage, diet and lifestyle. The treatment protocols employed are sequential and designed to address each patient’s individual underlying issues. In addition to treating children with learning difficulties and developmental delay etc, most patients come in after suffering from chronic pain or other health issues. Factors affecting the number of treatments required and the rate of recovery are longevity of symptoms, the degree of damage, diet and lifestyle.

With regard to the immune system and lymphatic disturbance discussed above, it is noteworthy that a great many adults and the majority of children attending our clinics for chronic health conditions have in common underlying auto-immune related health problems, usually caused by pharmaceutical gut and organ damage. The gut might not be the first place one might look for the root of so many autoimmune diseases but intestinal bacteria is closely linked to a healthy immune system. In fact, the gut microbiome affects multiple aspects of our health, including metabolism and mood. An autoimmune disease is when the body's immune system, which ordinarily attacks intruders like viruses and bacteria, instead attacks itself. There are over a hundred different autoimmune diseases and they commonly involve fatigue, inflammation and joint pain, sometimes referred to as "invisible disabilities.”

Autoimmune diseases are primarily caused by gut and bowel damage and why in addition to treatment, an alkaline diet is always preferable. Autoimmune diseases include: inflammatory bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus, multiple sclerosis, cancers, Type 1 diabetes, Guillain-Barre Syndrome, chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy i.e. nerve damage, psoriasis and other skin problems, blood pressure, hypertension, obesity, asthma, depression, mental and cognitive impairment. Any healing takes time as the tissues need time to repair and as such it is your responsibility to eat correctly, rest, minimise stress and follow any dietary or other advice.

As mentioned, the methods used are essentially a combination of well established, highly effective safe, non-invasive protocols that include, spinal compression reduction using passive pelvic blocks used to reduce spinal and pelvic distortions and whole body distortions. Other techniques are employed that address extremity realignment, gait reflexes, cranial injury instability, the immune system, the endocrine system, cardiac back stress, emotional clearing, survival reflexes that relate to jaw tension, upper neck and cranial misalignments that distort to protect the brainstem, which will often also pull the head out of alignment as the head is thrust forward or held sideways.

Vaccine related autoimmune damage is discussed throughout, furthermore many medical prescriptions are not only unnecessary, they are detrimental to health because they can damage organs and the gastrointestinal tract. Commonly used ant-acids and antibiotics for example can cause a build up of harmful bacteria within the gut, thus stimulating adverse autoimmune reactions that inhibit recovery.  Whether prescribed or over-the-counter, pharmaceutical damage to the cells lining the gastrointestinal tract will cause them to shrink, and as they shrink, it becomes harder for these cells to form tight junctions, thereby allowing toxins and other harmful substances to exit the damaged gut and enter into the bloodstream, triggering the body’s auto-immune responses and causing the body’s cells to attack themselves.

This condition has become known as ‘Leaky Gut Syndrome’ and it affects millions of people worldwide, but often goes undiagnosed by the mainstream medical profession, but in spite of this, Leaky Gut is believed to be the underlying factor for at least 50% of all current health problems - food and other allergies being the most obvious. There are some people who cannot eat particular foods because they cannot process or digest them, but the vast majority of adverse reactions are due to autoimmune reactions, especially with foods containing wheat, dairy and sugar.

Wheat and Gluten Intolerance

Some people are allergic to wheat, but that is not the same as a gluten sensitivity; wheat intolerance is an intolerance just to wheat and wheat varieties - not reactivity to gluten-containing grains such as barley and rye. Reactivity to gluten causes damage to the small intestine, such as with coeliac disease. But both involve inflammatory reactions brought about by gut microbiome damage, i.e. both cause an increase in harmful bacteria that in turn bring about auto-immune responses triggering a resurgence of related symptoms such as asthma, fatigue, joint inflammation, lack of concentration, brain fog, indigestion, bloating, and excess gas etc.

Heavy metals in vaccines, medications and foods containing Monosodium Glutamate cause the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, and Glutamate related nerve damage is the primary reason why so many today suffer from neurological diseases such as multiple sclerosis, autism, hyperactivity, ADD, bipolar, schizophrenia, neuropathy, and epilepsy etc. Vaccine and glutamate nerve damage are briefly discussed in part 6.

Cow’s milk & Dairy product Intolerance

Lactose intolerance is an inability to digest and absorb lactose (the sugar in milk) and results in gastrointestinal symptoms when milk or food products containing milk are consumed. Damage to the small intestinal wall impairs the production of lactase, (the intestinal enzyme responsible for the digestion of lactose), giving rise to gastrointestinal symptoms caused by the reactive bacteria releasing hydrogen gas, resulting in flatulence. Mild to moderate symptoms may include hives or welts on the skin, abdominal pain, vomiting, swelling of face, lips and/or eyes. A severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) to cow’s milk can be life threatening and symptoms can include difficult/noisy breathing, wheeze or a sudden or persisting cough, swelling and a tightness in the throat.

People may have differing severities of lactase deficiency to mild, moderate, or severe reactions to the amounts of lactase in their intestines. Thus, small amounts of lactose will cause major symptoms in severely lactase deficient people but only mild or no symptoms in mildly lactase deficient people.

Sugar Intolerance

Overindulging can really mess with the body. Eating too much sugar boosts the chances of succumbing to heart disease, diabetes, obesity, cavities and the list goes on and on. Are food cravings normal? No - but they are normal for people with an overgrowth of bad bacteria whose growth has been stimulated by a damaged gut. Harmful bacteria are not satisfied with just food so instead try to invade the cells lining the colon, the immune system tries to counter this by producing huge amounts of white blood cells and chemicals that work to destroy the invading bacteria by punching holes in their outer membranes and trying to kill and eat them. This constant invasion of your colon cells by harmful bacteria causes the immune system to stay overactive all the time and results in chronic inflammation and many other related symptoms.
